ROSEVILLE, Calif., Sept. 26, 2013 – Care Innovations™, an Intel-GE company, today announced that its Board of Directors named Sean Slovenski as the companys next chief executive officer. Slovenski will succeed CEO Louis Burns, who is retiring later this year after 30 years with Intel and Intel-GE Care Innovations. Slovenskis insights and experience, including leading successful population health programs with innovative delivery models for health systems, health plans, and providers, immediately strengthen Care Innovations ability to meet the unique needs of its growing customer base.
Slovenski has held significant senior leadership roles within the industry, most recently at Humana serving as Segment Vice President of Humanas Health and Productivity Solutions business group. In this role, he led hundreds of employees in four industry-leading wellness businesses, aligning them into a common vision while bolstering expertise in population health and wellbeing.
Prior to joining Humana, Slovenski was Co-Founder and CEO of Hummingbird Coaching Services, an award-winning company known as the industry leader in online coaching and behavior management that was sold to Humana in 2010. Under his vision and leadership, Hummingbird moved from regional start-up to market leader servicing more than three million lives in multiple international markets.
"Seans track record of building pioneering start-up ventures, combined with leadership in large regional health systems and health plans, makes him perfect for this role," said Tom Gentile, Chairman of the Board for Care Innovations and President and CEO of GE Healthcares Healthcare Systems division. "After a thorough selection process, were thrilled that Sean will bring his passion and love of innovation to Care Innovations."
"Its an honor to take the reins of this company, which I have watched and admired since its creation in 2011," said Slovenski. "As our healthcare system continues to evolve, technology must play a central role in enabling better outcomes and coordinating between all the members of the care team, and Care Innovations has the unmatched talent and assets to make this vision a reality. I look forward to helping the company become a trusted partner to leading, innovative health and senior care organizations around the world."
Slovenski was identified as a result of a nationwide search conducted by the Board with active involvement from CEO Burns. Slovenskis start date will be in mid-October, and Burns will stay involved through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
"Under Seans leadership, I believe Care Innovations will march forward stronger than ever. Weve had many months to pick my successor since my decision to retire, and I know weve found the right person to lead this remarkable company," said Burns. "I am privileged to have led this exceptional group of people, and believe in the companys mission more than ever – to transform the way healthcare is delivered, connecting people with their care teams and giving them the confidence to live independently."
Burns retirement will bring to a close a remarkable career of nearly 30 years serving Intel Corporation and, for the past three years, Care Innovations. During his time at Intel, he served as the companys Chief Information Officer, as well as vice president and general manager of several major businesses including the Platform Components Group, Desktop Platforms Group, and Digital Health Group, the companys first health-focused business group. Prior to these executive-level roles, he spent over a decade in Intels sales, marketing, and applications groups. His curiosity, leadership, and passion for disrupting markets culminated in his years as CEO of Care Innovations.
"The Board would like to thank Louis for his inspired leadership of Care Innovations since its formation. Under his tenure, the company launched several trailblazing new technologies in the healthcare and consumer markets, and carried forward a vision of converged, coordinated care that has changed the lives of thousands of people," said Gentile.
